Let's start blogging!

After our tutor introduced the module lab, while all my classmates started to set up their blogs, I was stuck with a problem from the very beginning. A question kept going round in my head: which blogging platform should I use? Of course, Wordpress was suggested in the lab sheet, but other blogging sites were also allowed. So, I started to explore all the opportunities possible.

There, you can download a free PDF guide comparing a few blogging platforms. You may be discouraged when you see the 19 pages but it's actually easy to read and clear enough, and you can go directly to the parts that you are interested in.

A good point is stated in the guide: there's no perfect blogging platform. The best platform is the one which suits you the most, which responds to your criteria. A platform offers you tools to publish your ideas, it is a supporting material. You write the lines, build your world and lead it to the top.

The guide provides a useful table summarizing and ranking the blogs with the criteria mentioned.

As I will be learning HTML and other tools to develop and design websites, I wanted a blog with a strong customization, and for free. Then, as social media is omnipresent nowadays, this criteria can be useful. (And why not monetization in the future?)

So, I chose Overblog. I chose this platform for the criteria explained above. I might have chosen it to have a different platform from my classmates too. I may want to make my blog unique while it is just a blog out of many.
