HTML and CSS

Two weeks ago, I started to use HTML and created a basic web page during the lab of Technical Writing class. Last week, I did the exact same thing in another lab from another module: Introduction to Web Development. Consequently, I worked very fast for the second practice and can now know perfectly how to create the basics without looking at the sheet lab everytime (attending two similar modules reveals to be very good practice technically).

I said I chose Overblog for the coding part. So, I decided to have a look there as I wanted to modify a few things. For example, the title of the posts are almost at the same size as the text of the post. My tutor noticed it too. I could solve the problem by resizing the text, but it would make the reader uncomfortable.

So, I opened the Edit page, and then the HTML section. First, it looked really complex. Secondly, it was complex. I saw a list of letters, numbers, brackets, etc, etc. I realized I was still far from this advanced level. I googled and looked for help. There are communities from the blog platform itself and blogs about coding and programming. I found a lot of useful advice and tutorials.

I went back to my blog and followed the instructions of other users. It worked. I could change the size of some headings, Latest posts and the date of the post... but not the title, while I tried everything between the heading Latest posts and the date!

I also wanted to install a few other modules in the right column. I wrote a few codes but nothing worked.

Yesterday, at my Web Development lecture, I learnt a new language: CSS. The codes started by a dot, for instance .heading.I checked the codes on my blog again. They are the same as presented at my lecture. So for designing the theme of my blog, I need to know HTML and CSS.

It's quite challenging but I succeeded at least to move one of the module already installed on my blog. A few more practice and I will be able to do whatever I want with my blog:
